How it works
What is a QR code?
A QR code (Quick Response code) is a type of matrix barcode that can store data — typically a URL, text, or structured data like WiFi credentials. Scanning one with a smartphone camera instantly opens the encoded link or information.
Does generating a QR code require an internet connection?
No. The entire QR code is generated in your browser using JavaScript. No data is sent to any server. This also means your QR codes are generated instantly.
PNG vs SVG — which should I download?
Download PNG for general use — printing, sharing, embedding in documents. Download SVG if you need the QR code to be sharp at any size (e.g. printing large banners) or to edit the vector in a design tool.
How do I create a WiFi QR code?
Select the "WiFi" tab, enter your network name (SSID), password, and encryption type (WPA is most common). When scanned on Android or iOS, the device will offer to join your network automatically.
Is there a limit on how much text I can encode?
QR codes can store up to around 2,000 characters of text, but longer content creates more complex (denser) codes that are harder to scan. For best results, keep URLs short and use link shorteners if needed.
